What Is Inner Closeness?
Question: If I am going to the Arava Convention and I am there with the friends: I am near them in the lessons, at night, in the meals I am feeling closeness to them, does it really mean that I am close to them? Is it that very closeness that we are looking for? Is this spiritual closeness?
Kabbalist Dr. Michael Laitman: This is of course not inner closeness of the hearts, desires, but as a result of such actions of ours: we as if demand from the Creator to really unite us—different desires into one desire.
Question: So, in practice, when we demand something, what is inner closeness?
Dr. Laitman: Inner closeness takes place with the help of the upper light, when the very parts of the desire that were broken and drew apart from one another reconnect, and we do not even know how exactly. That is the upper light connecting us, gluing us together and fulfilling us.
Question: During the convention, even if I feel myself closer to people, even then, there are lots of people, and I cannot interact with everyone, I will not be able to get closer with everyone.
Dr. Laitman: Of course not.
Question: So, what is this state when you in essence feel everyone: you feel the entire Kli, you are close to everyone, feeling that we are all one ten?
Dr. Laitman: No. There is no such picture of you being close with everyone and connected to everyone, as if in one organism. There is no such thing. This is already a spiritual matter, when the upper light acts as such, and we (by the way, hopefully in the near future, in our time come to such a sensation) exist in one Kli. That there are no men, no women, rather all of us exist in one desire—as different parts of the desire, but of one desire.
Question: When we perform actions during the convention, what do we ask for? Do we ask to reach the state of a single desire?
Dr. Laitman: Only pray.
Question: For what precisely?
Dr. Laitman: What do you want?
Question: To be one desire, “as one man with one heart”?
Dr. Laitman: As one man with one heart. Pray for that.
