How to Feel in the State of Exile at the Convention
Question: I understood that we need to go to the desert in order to feel an exile from the Creator, from the connection between us. Is that true?
Kabbalist Dr. Michael Laitman: Yes, on the one hand. On the other hand, if we don’t feel the desert, then we won’t have a space where we can see and feel what we received at Mount Sinai, as if we have it. But there is nothing to do, we don’t know what to do with it.
Question: How can we feel as if we’re in exile at the convention? I ask because the convention is an event where we are all together, eating good food, sleeping and learning. There is a feeling of togetherness, so where is the feeling of exile here? On the contrary, it feels like a sense of great connection.
Dr. Laitman: No. Exile is felt precisely when we are connected, but the Creator is not there. We wanted to catch Him between us in the connection between us, but we do not find Him.
Question: So how do we not miss the thought of the Creator in the connection at the convention?
Dr. Laitman: But that’s what we want. We leave our comfort zones, sit among friends in not entirely comfortable situations, and we want to discover the Creator. We have no other desire to connect, but we see that we cannot, and then we cry out to Him.
